What happens on the day of a Boudoir Photography Shoot

If you have booked into our studio or are thinking of booking in and are curious about what happens on the day, you are in the right place.

Our Luxury Boudoir photography experiences run from 10:00 am to about 3:00 pm(ish)

The first thing that happens is we greet you and welcome you into the studio. We serve coffee, sit down, and make you feel at home, hopefully easing your nerves a little.

We then give you a tour of the studio so that you know where everything is. We get your clothes and outfits into our change room. We introduce you to our hair and makeup artist and get you settled in to get glammed up.

Depending on how much hair you have, this takes about 60 to 90 minutes.

Our hair and makeup artist will ask if you have any preferences and offer any suggestions that she thinks will help make you camera-ready. Once she has finished, she will pack up and leave us to it.

The next step is to select the first outfit. I will generally choose something that is not your favourite. Experience has taught me that the photos will improve as the shoot wears on and you gain more confidence. Tracey will be there to assist you if you need any help with stockings, corsets and any other wardrobe challenges.

Once the shoot starts, this is actually where it all gets easy. Once you get in the flow, it becomes genuinely fun. Every single lady tells us how much of a blast they had and how quickly it went. I liken it to seeing a band you love in concert… it’s over before you want it to be, and you wonder how it went so quickly.

Throughout the journey, there are outfit changes, creative inspiration, lots of laughs and chocolate to keep your energy levels up 🙂

Even though in the lead-up to the day, we would have discussed the style of photography you like and your comfort levels, I do not pre-plan shoots. I do not have a “shoot schedule” because everyone is different, and everyone has different levels of confidence, visual strengths, and aspirations on how they want to look and feel.

So, we tend to be very free-flowing during the photography session and base it on how the client is doing during the shoot and what they are physically capable of. In other words, we do not try to bang square pegs into round holes. We promise you will feel comfortable and safe throughout the experience.

Once the photography component of the day has finished., we will serve you a well-deserved food platter and let you relax.

We get the photos off the camera and into our system. Then, in about 15-20 minutes, you will see the photographs with a cinematic presentation in our design consultation room. This part is so much fun. This is where you choose the photographs you love, and we will help you design anything you wish to display in your home. Funnily enough, often, ladies are just as nervous about this part as the photography component. But it’s a different sort of nervousness… it is more pure excitement. I can honestly say that every woman who has done this was blown away by the photos and, in many instances, can not believe it is them on the screen.

So there you have it. This is an overview of how the day works for a boudoir photography experience at our studio.

Below is a two-minute video that we got done by our nephew, who works as a cameraman at 7 News. The lady in the video is a friend and client named Lynne. She returned for a second boudoir shoot and was kind enough to let herself be filmed. We did this to add to this blog post to give even more of a look as to how the day looks and feels.
